Update from Forestry & Land Scotland (FLS), July 2025
Kilmun Hill (see map) :
FLS will be bringing machines back onto this site this week (7th July 2025) to extract brash piles from the winch site and will be stacking and chipping at the roadside. This will mean that access for locals and walkers will be restricted during chipping operations. This work is to try and provide a cleaner site to allow fuller establishment.
This work will involve large brash piles at roadside and temporary road closures controlled by banksmen. It is hard to estimate length of operations but FLS would imagine a minimum of 4 weeks.
An FLS team are on site today (7th July 2025) and possibly tomorrow (8th July 2025) to remove vegetation from access.

Blairmore windblow :
The tenders have been returned and scored and a contract has been awarded for road upgrades. It is anticipated that road works will commence soon but FLS don’t have an exact date as yet and will provide this when we can. Harvesting will follow on close behind completion of road works possibly mid September 2025.
Kilmun Arboretum:
The ongoing works at the Arboretum will continue with some further chainsaw and fencing works. There may be short temporary footpath diversions in place but nothing that will really impact greatly.
Miscellaneous:
There are no events scheduled for July in the Kilmun Community Council area.
The track from Pucks Glen car park through the forest up to the forest road is now clear and open. A route card showing the available routes in the area is downloadable from the Pucks glen Web page or there are hard copies on the kip panel in the car park.
Harvesting operations above Coylet on going so forest road closed Mondays to Fridays.
