Review of Argyll & Bute Integration Scheme

Review of Argyll & Bute Integration Scheme

Added at 18:51 on 25 August 2025

People across Argyll and Bute are being invited to have their say on a document that outlines how health and social care functions and services are delegated across Argyll and Bute.

In 2016, Argyll and Bute Council and NHS Highland brought all health and social care services together to form the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). The main purpose of integrating these services was to improve the wellbeing of people who use them. A Scheme of Integration was agreed, and subsequently approved by the Scottish Government.

By law, Integration Schemes must be reviewed every five years and submitted to the Scottish Government for approval. The Integration Scheme provides information about how health and social care functions and services will be delegated to the HSCP by the Council and NHS Highland. A review of the current Scheme has been undertaken and a number of proposed amendments have been recommended.  These changes have been considered and approved by both the Council and NHS Highland Health Board at their respective meetings held in June/July 2025.  There is also a requirement to consult with stakeholders to seek their feedback on any proposed changes, and to consider all views expressed.

This consultation is therefore aimed at everyone who uses health and social care services in Argyll and Bute, or are likely to do so in future.  Alternatively, you may be a carer of someone who uses services, a provider of health and social care services or a member of staff working in health or social care.

The consultation will run for a period of eight weeks from 25th August 2025 to 19th October 2025. We would welcome any comments or feedback you have on the proposed changes to the Scheme.  You can do this by completing a short online survey.

Further information, including the revised scheme and a summary of the proposed changes is available on the Council website:- Argyll and Bute Council
