New Update on Rest And Be Thankful & The Old Military Road

Added at 12:03 on 17 July 2025

Please see the following update sent on behalf of Structural Soils Ltd:

Structural Soils Ltd (SSL) would like to advise that in response to feedback received during our earlier stakeholder engagement, and to avoid clashing with key local events, road users will no longer be diverted onto the Old Military Road on the previously communicated dates of Monday 21st July & Tuesday 22nd July and Monday 4th August and Tuesday 5th August.  Traffic using the A83 trunk road will now be diverted onto the Old Military Road on Monday 28th July & Tuesday 29th July and Monday 11th August & Tuesday 12th August between 0800 and 1800 each day.

During the traffic diversion dates noted, SSL will be undertaking ground investigation works in relation to the Long Term Solution on behalf of Transport Scotland, which includes crane lifts of specialist drilling equipment and ancillary equipment off and onto the hillside. We will work to complete the work as quickly as possible and open the A83 as soon as it can be made available. Subject to any unforeseen circumstances such as adverse weather, these will complete all the scheduled crane lifts as part of this project. We would like to thank local communities and road users for their cooperation.

Transport Scotland will issue a press release confirming the upcoming diversions on to the Old Military Road in due course.

Please note: Due to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), we cannot forward any responses on your behalf so please ensure you reply to Structural Soils directly: A83SSL@soils.co.uk

Many thanks
